USE WHAT YOU HAVE TO GET WHAT YOU WANT

You have it! Yes you…you! What’s going through your mind? You’re wondering what she is going to write about this time right? Got you there! Use that thing you have. ‘’You have all it takes’’ says Bishop TD Jakes.
It was during one of our Review Sessions…the ‘shredding’ session where managers use their mouths (words) to tear off your clothes…most dreaded session. One of the managers told me ‘’you have to use what you have to get what you want’’. I have never liked that word because of how most ladies use it especially in movies. It translates most time to the bed. Years later, I had to do a lot of thinking and I found out that I can actually get what I want by using what I have. That is, in a totally different way from what I had perceived it to be. What do I really have? And what do I really want? See what I made out of it.

Head: I have got a brain in my head…what do I do with the brain? To think. I am talking about positive thinking here, which has a way of tuning you to the bright side of life and helps you demand positive results from life too. As a man thinks, so is he (Prov. 23:7). Thoughts have energy and can take form-whether positive or negative. And like Physics showed us that energy cannot be destroyed but can change from one form to another. That is, whenever a negative thought comes in to your head, it cannot be destroyed but you can replace or change it with positive thoughts. Positive thinking stirs your belief to conquer challenges. No matter what your challenges are, expect only good and favourable results…then you will see how the mountain before you will gradually crush as dust and blown away by the wind till you see them no more. Task your brain for solutions. Use your brain. I read somewhere that if the brain were to be an app, we will use it. The truth is that we use our phones more than we use our brains. While it is speculated that humans only use 10% of their brain, some only use 1%. Surround yourselves with people that will task your brain and change the way you think. That’s exactly what going to church does. You hear the Word of God and it changes your view by causing to visualize favourable situations. Read Philippians 4:8

Eyes: What do you spend time looking at? What you see, most times, is what your mind processes. I never liked horror movies (especially those halloween movies) when I was kid because when the movie is over, I find out that it starts playing afresh in my mind making me scared. Some people can’t stand some disturbing pictures because of what it does to them afterwards. It is the same with an inspirational movie…you feel energized and happy after watching it. Your mind processes and forms a picture with what the physical eye sees…this is called imagination. Imagination is your mind’s picture. You find out that after watching that movie, your mind come up with other images that were not in the movie. That is the power of imagination. Imagination is God’s gift to us. That’s why God told Abraham…’’as far your eyes can see…Genesis 13:14 (NLT). Everybody  has the ability to imagine. See through your imagination because there is a limit to what the physical eyes can see but the mind’s eye knows no limit. If you are poor, sick or small…imagination can take you out of that state. Just as God gave you a brain to think, He also gave you a mind to imagine so you can give Him rest. Don’t expect to feature in the future you did not picture says Bishop Oyedepo.

Heart: Your heart is where life’s issues emanate from (Proverbs 4:23 KJV)… It determines the course of your life. With your heart you believe and what you believe is what you achieve. Your belief can either empower or impound you. Your heart births your passions and dreams and sustains it too. Just like the physical heart pumps blood to all parts of the body, the mind’s heart gives life to all aspects of our lives. The devil, been aware of this, uses all manner of things to pollute our hearts like distractions, disappointments, disillusion and discouragements. This is the reason God’s word tells us to guard (protect) our hearts. Imagine, how you felt when you were disappointed…it was as if the world came to an end and you were shattered.
Your heart births passion. When people say put your heart to what you are doing, it means be passionate about it. Passion leads you to your purpose and motivates you to action. ''Your purpose will become clear only when you listen to your heart'' says Lolly Daskal. There is a purpose why you are on earth and the best way to discover your purpose is through your passion. The easy way to know your passion is to know the things you interestingly love to do. I always say that ‘’passion gives you that jolly ride down the bumpy road’’. This means that it creates enthusiasm in difficult times…just as it makes success out of any venture. I love this quote by Denis Waitley ‘’Chase your passion and not your pension’’

MOUTH: With your mouth, you speak anything into being. Words are important and powerful. It has power and authority. You can use your mouth to talk your way out of any situation and to the top. So say what you want to see happen in your life. ‘’A closed mouth is a closed destiny’’ says Bishop Oyedepo. Be the prophet over your life. In her book, Joyce Meyer said ‘’If you are not satisfied with your life and you want to see it change, you will have to begin prophesying’’. You can make or mar your future by the kind of words you tell yourself. Start now by speaking life to every stagnated area of your life….speak life into your destiny. God created the world by His words. You too have been empowered to do same. Recreate your world with your words. Words are seeds and they produce what is planted. Every morning stand in front of the mirror and bless who’s before you.

HANDS: We all want a helping hand…but the best helping hand you will ever find is at the end of your own arm. No one will hand success to you; you have to work it out for yourself. Resolve to take action. I read somewhere that ‘’people who are accustomed to working hard are less inclined to feel overwhelmed by challenges. They are eager to acquire new skills because they can quickly put them to good use’’. No matter what your dream is, it will not come to you sitting down. Go find yourself something to do with your hands.

LEGS: Get up and go! You can’t create the world you desire by crossing your legs. Those legs are meant to move. If you have to go learn a trade or skill, get moving and keep moving. No matter how slow you are moving, just keep moving. Take that stride. A thousand miles begins with a step. Go ahead and make that move!

Put all these parts to work. Package yourself for exploits. Seek ways to develop yourself. Invest in yourself to build your worth. It is possible to create a lasting change in your life and that change you desire will only come from you. It’s not just about what you have but what you do with what you have that makes all the difference.
