TOP NIGERIAN FEMALE BEAUTY ENTREPRENEURS


The beauty industry in Nigeria has taken a major leap over the years. Many women carved a niche for themselves in this field and have not looked back since then. They are relentlessly making global recognitions and impacts and are major sources of inspiration to the younger generation. 

OKE MADUEWESI…

Oke is an Economics graduate from Edo State University, Ekpoma. She was challenged after she lost her husband in a plane crash and was left with a toddler and seven months pregnancy. She braced up herself to the trials when she went back to work as a senior manager in Zenith Bank. She worked extra hard and went ahead to pursue her MBA in the University of Leeds. It was there she got intrigued when she read stories of entrepreneurs and global brands and it aroused her entrepreneurial spirit which gave birth to Zaron Cosmetics. 
TARA FELA DUROTOYE…

The 38 year old and mother of 3, is a Law graduate who turned her passion into the business it is today. She pioneered the bridal makeup profession in Nigeria. Mrs Durotoye was awarded the Africa SMME Award and the Entrepreneur award in South Africa respectively in 2007; and was enlisted as one of 20 Young Power Women in Africa by Forbes in 2013. House of Tara beauty products range from Inspired perfume, Tara Orekelewa and H.I.P beauty range.  
BUNMI OYENIYI…

Bunmi is the gorgeous lady behind the Unveil MUP and proprietress of Unveil Institute. She is a graduate of Estate Management from Obafemi Awolowo University. Her love for beauty made her abandon her profession for a career in makeup. The flare came up when she did her first bridal makeup and everyone was astonished at a fantastic job done. She went further to obtain more knowledge from House of Tara, did a Diploma in Makeup Artistry, London and School of Beauty and Makeup Forever, Dubai. Having started career in Makeup in her house, Unveil MUP is now a global brand.
KEMI IMEVBORE UWAGA...

She is the brain behind Kemikings Inc which was created 2002 and started officially in 2003. The Nigerian born-UK based sharpened her skills in makeup from West Thames College with a Diploma in Beauty and Arts, London and London College of Beauty Therapy respectively. She also partook in Sam Fine Beauty Master Class, London. The 32 year old was nominated twice for best makeup outfit and Winner of the Beauty Icon Award for BEEFTA Awards and WEAN Awards for Nigeria.
 ENITAN BALOGUN...

Eni is the brand owner of Lise beauty range who gave up her career in banking for her passion in makeup. She worked with MAC and Fashion Fair and went on to study makeup from So Line Beauty School, New York. Enitan in her mid-30s, is one of the pioneers of movie makeup in Nigeria, publisher of Beauty Overdose Magazine and founder of the Professional and Certified Makeup Artists of Nigeria. She runs Lise International Pro-a makeup school.
ONYINYE CARTER...

The daughter of a billionaire is the CEO of MUD Cosmetics Nigeria. She is also the co-founder of Belleza cosmetics with her sister (Chinny).
TONI PAYNE...

The CEO of Toni Payne Cosmetics had always loved playing with colours and makeup application and this birthed her makeup line. The ex-wife of the Nigerian artiste, 9ce, studied Video Digital Arts in US and worked at Sun Labs-a cosmetics manufacturing lab where the urge to start her own company began. She started with care line called Clasee before her makeup line.

 BANKE MESHIDA LAWAL...

As a child, Banke loved arts- drawing, painting, mixing colours and creating designs. She derived pleasure in making people beautiful but wanted to be a diplomat. The English graduate from University of Lagos, currently has makeup line (BMPro), Training School and an Online Magazine. She has worked with prominent women like Mariam Babaginda, Mrs Titi Atiku, Dame Patience Jonathan, Dame Fashola, Oluremi Tinubu amongst others. 
AMINA SAGOE...

Amina created Emmaus Beauty as a solution to her skin problem…Keratosis Pilaris. Her quest for this set her on a journey to find natural care regimen to improve her condition. Emmaus beauty is a natural skincare line that makes use of plant cell technology to give relief to those with skin disorders such as body acne, eczema, ingrown hairs, uneven complexions, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris and other skin condition. The Business Administration graduate was selected by Virgin Atlantic as the Business Person on the Rise.
