FEMALE VILLAINS OF NOLLYWOOD

A truly talented actor or actress can play any role especially one that is totally different from who they really are. It is often a celebration in the scope of creativity that permits them to explore and excel in their roles. Many of these characters wow us and make us almost forget that they have a life outside the screen.
Let’s give it them…it is not easy acting what you are not. Some of them are being confronted publicly by fans for certain roles they featured. Here are few female screen divas in Nollywood who can play the villain.

PATIENCE OZOKWOR: ‘Mama G’ as she is known is gifted in acting and has a captivating way of keeping her viewers glued to their screen. The 57 years old widow has made a name for herself playing evil and mischievous roles particularly the devilish mother or mother-in-law. She does this so well that it is almost impossible for one to differentiate her real self from her played roles. Even the few good woman roles now seem like an anomaly. Patience has admitted playing the bad roles as a way of passing a message to the unjust that wickedness bring ruins. Contrary to what she acts, Patience is an entrepreneur, tender, kind-hearted and very compassionate (she opened a school for young female school drop-outs, where they are  taught hair and skin care and she opened businesses for them as well. She has also adopted 5 children added to her biological children).

FRANCA BROWN: Well-known for her mean and fierce roles, the theatre arts graduate of University of Jos started acting while in school. Her deep affection for acting made her abandon her banking job. She is currently presenting a TV programme for Promasidor called Nwanyi Onwunga. Though still unmarried, her love for kids made her adopt a daughter.

CLARION CHUKWURA:  The mother of the renowned music video director-Clarence Peters, is mainly stuck to playing the no-nonsense tough woman. Clarion was the first actress to be awarded the Nigerian Best Actress at a film festival in Burkina Faso. Although most people may not believe it, Clarion is very spiritual and is a deaconess. She is also involved in so many humanitarian works.

EUCHARIA ANUNOBI:  You would probably peg Eucharia's tough look to her villainous characters… especially with the way she carves her eyebrow and her sleepy eyes. This lady with an impeccable grammar made it to limelight in her role in Glamour girls. The ‘Margaret Thatcher’ in her movies is now an evangelist and serving the Lord faithfully.

CHINYERE WILFRED:  The veteran actress is known for excellent performance on screen. She is another tough woman to be noticed. She is very sociable and loves people around her.

SOLA SOBOWALE: Toyin tomato as she is fondly called because of her cunny role in Super Story, a TV drama by Wale Adenuga Productions. Her characters are usually very dramatic and fascinating.  It will surprise you to know that Sola has left her acting career in Nigeria to perform her motherly duties. She is presently in the UK taking care of her daughters who are schooling in one of the best schools in the UK and she is doing menial jobs as well to cater for their upkeep as she could not leave them all alone there. …when asked she proudly said there is dignity in labour.

NDIDI OBI: The beautiful and curvy actress is another stern woman in Nollywood who has taken it all in stride and have built a reputation. Nigerians will never forget this woman…after her role in Nneka the pretty serpent. The Banking and Finance graduate has not ceased to amaze us as she is an ardent and devoted worker in the Lord’s vineyard.

FLORENCE ONUMA:  Florence is among those that play the ‘society woman’ and ‘hard-to-grind’ role. Amazingly, she is a very private, modest and domestic woman. She prides herself with it that still cooks for her husband of 23 years.
